For more than 50 years, Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) has served the Washington County community and the Orange County towns of Orange, Washington and Williamstown. POSITION: WCMHS is seeking an Assistant Program Director of School-Based Services to support the strategic leadership and management of the daily operations of school-based programs. This position assists the Program Director and works collaboratively with educators, families, and community partners to develop and implement high-impact programs that improve educational outcomes and promote the well-being of children, youth, and families.

Key responsibilities include assisting in management and oversight of program operations; developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that align with organizational goals and student needs; supervision of designated staff; monitoring quality of services, and ensuring that all services meet clinical, ethical, and best practice standards; leading and coordinating collaborations and communications with internal and community partners. 

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, clinical expertise, and a commitment to providing inclusive, student-centered support in educational environments.

       Education and experience requirements for this position include:
  • Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field;
  • 3–5+ years of experience in programmatic oversight and employee supervision; and
  • Clinical background with experience working in school or community-based settings; OR
  • Equivalent/comparable combination of education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge and skills required for the position.
       Knowledge, skills, and competencies required for the Assistant Program Director position include:
  • Leadership & Supervision: Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and foster professional growth.
  • Program Development: Skills in designing, executing, and assessing school-based services for diverse populations.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and public speaking.
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with educators, families, and agency partners.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Understanding of best practices in child and adolescent mental health.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to collect, interpret, and present data for program evaluation and decision-making.
  • Problem Solving: High-level reasoning ability to navigate complex organizational and client needs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with educational standards, relevant laws, and ethical guidelines.
  • Regional travel: Ability to travel to schools and community sites and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: This full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of pay of $32.36 ($67,308, annualized) and comprehensive benefits, including paid time off; employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; and a 403(b) retirement plan with a generous employer match. WCMHS also offers educational benefits, including tuition reimbursement and student loan repayment.
