Residential Behavior Interventionists

Our Residential program is family centered, trauma informed, and customizes care for each person we serve. Our Behavioral Interventionists are the key component to making the impact of our work strong!

Our Behavior Interventionist teams focus on supporting and coaching children and youth with emotional or behavioral problems stemming from symptoms like depression, anxiety, addiction, autism, ADHD, OCD, etc. We do this by implementing personal programming and activities that are defined by individual treatment plans, by maintaining progress reports, and providing each resident with daily living support.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive influence & role model
  • Develop healthy, therapeutic relationships with children and youth
  • Shape new behaviors and support learning through implementing customized behavior plans
  • Provide safe and reliable supervision that also helps navigate stress or crisis moments
  • Communicate & document treatment progress and support the larger care team in proactive ways

Specific Duties:

  • Provide individualized services to our residents across many different settings
  • Provide direct supervision, supportive counseling, social skill building, crisis intervention & daily living skills to our residents
  • Provide transportation in your own vehicle to and from community activities, mental health appointments & school
  • Communicate with school staff, other treatment providers, team members & the resident’s family in professional and supportive ways
  • Document resident information through keeping daily logs, medication entries, point sheets
  • Attend trainings, workshops, treatment team meetings, and complete paperwork on time
  • Implement problem solving, de-escalation & crisis management skills and defer complex issues to Treatment Program Team leaders
  • Advocate for children and youth & role model this process to develop their self-advocacy skills
  • Work independently & as a team member
  • Implement behavior plans & procedures designed to address treatment goals & objectives
  • To manage the physical safety of client & others, which includes:
  • Willingness to learn and implement crisis de-escalation and passive restraint techniques and physically restrain children & youth who are a danger to self or others
  • Must be able to complete Handle with Care training
  • Must be able to lift & carry 50 pounds
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience from a combination of life skills, experience and/or trainings
  • Valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle and adequate insurance coverage
  • Good references, strong reliable work and team work ethic
