For more than 50 years, Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) has served the Washington County community and the Orange County towns of Orange, Washington and Williamstown. POSITION: WCHMS is seeking an experienced HR professional with hands-on and leadership expertise in employee relations, promoting positive work environments, and building systems to join our HR team and to support our staff, management, and workplace as the Assistant Director, People and Culture (ADPC).
With an emphasis on building and supporting an inclusive culture that centers and integrates the values of fairness, dignity, respect, and belonging in the employee experience, the ADPC, is a tactical manager and strategic leader with responsibilities that include:
QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to a commitment to the WCMHS mission, the Assistant Director of People and Culture should have a combination of education, training, and relevant work and lived experience to provide the skills and knowledge to fulfill the responsibilities of the position with a high level of competence. With an emphasis on building and supporting an inclusive culture that centers and integrates the values of fairness, dignity, respect, and belonging in the employee experience, the ADPC, is a tactical manager and strategic leader with responsibilities that include:
- Developing and administering employee relations and engagement processes, policies, and initiatives.
- Responding to workplace concerns and complaints, conducting investigations, supporting performance management, and partnering with management on addressing staff and workplace issues.
- Managing and overseeing leave of absence and workplace accommodation requests, processes, and systems.
- Supervising and supporting workforce training.
- Providing oversight and consultation to the talent acquisition functions and initiatives.
- Developing, leading, and supporting the agency’s inclusion and diversity initiatives, programs, and efforts.
Preferred qualifications include:
- bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant field;
- Significant experience in human resources, with 5 or more years of experience in employee relations or related area of HR;
- training or experience in work related to workplace inclusion and/or social justice; and
- supervisory/team management experience (preferred).
- Significant knowledge of employee relations and core human resources functions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of federal & state employment laws, regulatory requirements, and sub-regulatory guidance.
- Commitment to working collaboratively and productively as a member of agency management toward achieving program and/or organizational goals and outcomes.
- Understanding and knowledge of psychological safety and trauma-informed practices.
- Commitment to inclusion, ethics, and compliance as organizational operating principles and understanding of the integration of these principles and standards with employee relations.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, planning, data and information management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, HRIS, and payroll software.
